Program Themes
This program is designed in two parts:
- Pre-Locomotion Stage (newborn –
five months)
- Locomotion Stage (six - twelve months)
Developmental Movement
FloorPlay is central to the
development of these basic neuro-physical movements that babies
naturally perform that build their brain body and joy of movement.
A dynamic foundation for movement, communication and learning.
Senses
and Perceptions
Through their six senses, babies learn to focus their attention,
and accept, reject or modulate their responses to sensory
stimulation that enhances learning skills.
Communication and Social Interactions
Babies communicate their intent through natural expressive
gestures and postures and learn how to interpret the nonverbal
messages of adults in social interactions.
Reflexes, Righting Reactions
& Equilibrium Responses
In natural movement development, babies integrate
early reflexes, establish a dynamic upright posture and
develop balance and equilibrium skills to move in all directions.
Learning and Environment
FloorPlay encourages babies
to create new movement strategies to explore their environment
and engage in age appropriate activities, from motivation
to mastery.
